Dawson an nounces that May is the time for improvement of all rural mail boxes and urges that patrons of the Zebulon post office begin now to have them in first class condi tion before they are inspected dur ing the month of May. All boxes are required to be on the right side of the road in the direction which the rural carrier travels, she said. The most common things that are irregular are: boxes not prop erly put up and not the right height; no doors, no signal flag; battered up; box too near the post; dusty; unpainted; and oth er irregularities. There are four rural routes cov ering 280 miles a day and serving approximately 10,000 patrons. In having your mail boxes in good condition it enables you to receive better service for there are 1,684 boxes to be served each day, Miss Dawson said. “A neat mail box adds much to the appearance of your home, and I hope before the mail routes are inspected in May that fevery patron of this office will have his mail box in perfect condition,” Miss Dawson said. “The response last year was most gratifying and I hope for an even better percent age this year.” Miss Dawson said she plans to exhibit in front of the post office mail boxes that are perfect ex amples and some that are not. She invites you to come by during May and see which yours looks like.
